Chairman & CEO
Karen co-founded Aureus in 2005. Previously, she spent 22 years at Fidelity Investments, most recently as a diversified fund manager in the Growth Group with oversight of the Large Cap, Advisor Large Cap, and Destiny I funds as well as several institutional nonprofit and pension funds.
Prior to that, Karen managed several sector funds, including the Leisure and Entertainment, Media, Air Transportation, Transportation, Biotechnology, Health Care, and Advisor Health Care funds. Her Fidelity career began in 1983 as an assistant fund manager to Peter Lynch on the Magellan Fund.
A regular contributor to the Harvard Business Review blog and the Huffington Post, Karen also appears frequently on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” and “Halftime Report.” In addition, she authored a book, “Even the Odds: Sensible Risk-Taking in Business, Investing, and Life,” which was published in 2016.
Karen earned her BA in economics, magna cum laude, from Harvard College and MBA from Harvard Business School. She has served on committees at Harvard University and is a member of the board of trustees of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Karen lives in Brookline, Massachusetts, with her husband, David. They have four grown children, six grandchildren, and two Brittany spaniels. She is an avid runner, tennis, golf, and bridge player.
